Dogs are Neighbors too!
The most common call received by Animal Control Officers is for nuisance barking. Excessive barking affects everyone:Neighbors, other Dogs, houseguests, walkers, joggers, bicyclists -- next door, down the street, across the road, there’s just no way to escape the noise. Even avid Dog lovers can find their deep affection for canines severely tested by “that stupid Neighbor Dog” who barks hour after hour, day after day.
Barking Dogs give the rest of our Canine Kids a bad name!
Nuisance barking is a learned behavior…as in the Dogs learn they can! It isn’t natural for Domesticated Dogs to bark. Boredom is usually what causes unwanted behaviors, and just like TwoLegged Kids who are left alone or unsupervised, boredom is often the precursor to trouble! There are lots of ways to BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR, such as giving your Canine Kids the attention-- the mental and physical stimulation-- they need, every day.
